Questions

Everything you want to know about stainless steel furniture, our pricing, warranty, delivery and process — answered honestly.

Material & Quality

Will stainless steel furniture rust?

SS 304-grade does not rust under any normal Indian household condition — it's the same grade used in surgical instruments and aircraft. SS 202 is also corrosion-resistant and won't rust in normal use, though prolonged standing water near sinks can occasionally cause minor surface staining if not wiped.

Ferro Designs uses SS 304 as standard on all residential products — not as an optional upgrade. Read our detailed rust guide for the full explanation.

What's the difference between SS 202, SS 304 and MS steel?
  • MS (Mild Steel) powder-coated — affordable, strong, but coating can chip and expose steel to rust. Best for dry areas only.
  • SS 202 — corrosion-resistant stainless steel, 16-18% chromium. Will not rust in normal indoor conditions. Most popular residential choice.
  • SS 304 — food-grade, surgical quality, 18% chromium + 8% nickel. Zero rust under any household condition. Ferro's standard specification.
Is steel furniture too cold or industrial-looking for a home?

Not anymore. Modern steel furniture comes in 2,500+ finishes — matte, hairline, high-gloss, mirror, wood-grain laminate, PVD gold/rose-gold coatings, and any RAL colour. Most visitors to a Ferro-fitted home don't realise the kitchen or wardrobe is steel until they're told — the finishes are indistinguishable from premium laminate or lacquer at a glance, but perform completely differently over time. Browse real finish options on our kitchen and wardrobe pages.

Can steel furniture be painted or refinished later?

Yes — powder-coated and lacquered steel surfaces can be repainted using appropriate steel-compatible paints. However, with 2,500+ finish options available at the design stage, most customers find their preferred finish upfront. If your taste changes years later, our buy-back programme is often a better route than refinishing — we'll discuss both options.

How do I clean and maintain stainless steel furniture?
  • Daily — a damp microfibre cloth is all that's needed
  • For marks — a small amount of dish soap on a soft cloth
  • Wipe brushed/hairline finishes in the direction of the grain
  • Avoid steel wool, abrasive pads and bleach-based cleaners

That's it — no polishing, oiling or annual treatments required, unlike wood. For a deeper dive into material grades, read our complete buyer's guide.

Pricing & Payment

How much does a Ferro Designs kitchen cost?

Pricing depends on the steel grade you choose (MS Powder-Coated, SS 202, or SS 304 Food-Grade), your layout, and finish — and is best discussed during a free consultation where we understand your specific requirements and space.

This isn't us being vague — material and labour costs shift with markets, so a fixed online number would often be inaccurate by the time you read it. What you get instead is a detailed written quote, tailored to your project, after a free site visit. See our cost guide for how to evaluate any quote — and browse kitchens, wardrobes and vanity units to see what's included at each grade.

Is the consultation and site visit really free?

Yes — completely free, with no obligation. We visit your site, measure your space, discuss your requirements, show finish samples, and deliver a 3D design proposal with written pricing. You can take this proposal and decide at your own pace.

What payment terms do you offer?

Standard terms are a booking advance, a milestone payment before manufacturing begins, and a final payment on completion of installation. Exact percentages are discussed and confirmed in writing at the quotation stage — there are no hidden instalments.

Are there hidden costs — countertop, sink, hardware?

No. Indian & German hardware (HETTICH, HAFELE, BLUM, KESSEBOHMER, REHAU) is included as standard in every Ferro quote — not an add-on. Your written quotation will clearly itemise what's included and what's optional (e.g. premium appliances, specific sink/hob brands if you have preferences).

Warranty & Buy-Back

What does the warranty cover?

Our lifetime structural warranty covers the steel carcass and body against manufacturing defects, corrosion (on SS 202/304 products) and structural failure. Hardware (hinges, drawer systems) carries the manufacturer's warranty from HETTICH/HAFELE/BLUM/KESSEBOHMER/REHAU — typically 10+ years depending on component.

How does the buy-back guarantee actually work?

Because steel retains significant residual value (steel scrap and refurbishment value is fundamentally different from wood), Ferro Designs offers to buy back your kitchen, wardrobe or vanity at a percentage of original value — useful if you're renovating, relocating, or upgrading your finish years later. Exact buy-back percentage depends on product age and condition, confirmed at the time of buy-back request. See all our guarantees on the Why Ferro? page.

What happens if a part is damaged after installation?

Contact us via WhatsApp or phone with photos of the issue. Manufacturing defects are repaired or replaced free under warranty. Accidental damage (e.g. dents from impact) can be repaired at a serviceable cost — steel is far easier and cheaper to repair locally than to replace a wood panel, since dents can often be worked out rather than requiring full panel replacement.

Process & Delivery

How long does delivery and installation take?

50 days from design sign-off to final installation, for standard residential projects. This includes manufacturing time and on-site installation by our own engineers — not subcontractors. Larger or multi-product projects may have phased timelines, confirmed at quotation.

Who installs the kitchen — your team or local contractors?

Ferro Designs' own trained installation engineers handle every installation — not third-party labour. This is part of why we can confidently commit to 50-day delivery and stand behind the installation quality with our warranty.

Do you operate outside Noida / NCR?

Yes — we've completed 100+ projects across 15 cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Goa and more. If your city isn't listed on our About page, book a free consultation and we'll confirm service availability for your location.

Will there be mess or disruption during installation?

Minimal. Steel modular components arrive pre-fabricated and assemble on-site — there's no cutting, sanding, painting or varnishing happening in your home, unlike carpenter-built wood kitchens. Most installations are completed with dust sheets and cleanup as standard practice.

Design & Vastu

Does Ferro Designs provide Vastu consultation?

Yes — included free with every project. Our designers assess kitchen direction, stove placement, storage orientation and material zones according to Vastu principles. Stainless steel itself aligns well with Vastu's metal element. Read our Vastu design guide for details.

Can I see the design before manufacturing starts?

Yes — every project includes a full 3D design presentation before any cutting or fabrication begins. You review and approve the layout, finishes, hardware placement and dimensions. Changes at this stage are free; changes after manufacturing has started may incur cost depending on what's been produced. Book a free consultation to start your design.

Can steel be combined with wood or other materials in one kitchen?

Yes, and it's a popular choice. Many homeowners use steel for high-moisture zones (sink cabinets, base units near the cooking area) and combine it with wood-grain laminate finishes elsewhere for a warmer aesthetic. The structural strength of steel with the visual warmth of wood — best of both, without wood's vulnerabilities in the high-risk zones. Read the full steel vs wood comparison for more.

After-Sales Support

What happens after installation is complete?

We schedule proactive check-ins at 1, 6 and 12 months post-installation — we call you to check everything is performing as expected. You don't need to chase us for routine follow-up.

How do I contact Ferro Designs after my project is done?

WhatsApp is the fastest way — +91 62391 03472. You can also call +91 98894 26353. Your project reference and contact details remain on file for any future service requests, warranty claims or buy-back discussions.

Can I add more products later (e.g. wardrobe after kitchen)?

Absolutely — many customers start with a kitchen and add wardrobes, vanity units or other products in subsequent phases. We retain your design files and finish preferences, making follow-on projects faster to scope and quote. Exploring options for a business or commercial space? See our commercial solutions.
